We created two parts of our place mats. We glued the squares around the perimeter and we used pine cones to stamp our backgrounds. We could not complete the leaf rubbings today, because it was raining and we were unable to collect leaves. All of the ones that I had already collected were dried and crumbly. Everyone did a great job and I think they will be pleased with the finished project.

2nd Grade, what fun! This week Ms Gillespie's glass created mixed media spooky moons. They actually were two weeks ahead, so we created a seasonal picture. Mrs. Docter's class will be catching up tomorrow. We will be making fall pictures that will be used as place mats for Grandparents' Day. It is a process, but well worth it. We will work in stations. One station students will glue fall colors around the perimeter of a brown square, creating a frame. Another center will focus on creating leaf rubbings. Children think that this is pure magic! At a third station, students will stamp paint a background using pine cones as the stamp. Once everything is dry they will glue the pieces together. Tomorrow I will let you know how things turned out and post pictures.
