I might be crazy...OK, I am at least a little crazy! Let me explain. Last year there was a little struggle keeping 5th and 6th graders engaged in Integrated Arts. They were a little mad. They had never done Math or Social Studies in the Art Room and here I was making them write. I know, write in school. What was I thinking? I struggled to find projects that could be finished in a timely manner that were interesting to the masses. Enter Genius Hour! The concept is pretty simple. People should be able to spend some of their time learning about things they want to learn about. It is a concept that was born in the Google company. So, we brainstormed and everyone came up with a question. We are currently working on plans of how those questions will be answered and how we are going to share the information. We are off to a slow start, but I am expecting great things! Stay tuned!!!
And today... something great happened. Here is Madison's first step in her project. Great job Madison!!!! ~shelton

AuthorThis is my 16th year! All of them have been at Bright! I actually started in the Art Room, spent a year in 4th grade, 7 years in 3rd grade, 5 years teaching 5th and 6th grade Social Studies, and last year I returned to the Art Room for this new Integrated Endeavor. ArchivesCategories |
